Red Rock Canyon and Mt. Charleston

Visiting Vegas? Why not leave the strip, get some exercise and see some beautiful sites that are not lit up with neon?  Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is only 17 miles west of the Vegas strip on Charleston Blvd./St. Route 159. There are beautiful views, plenty of trails to hike, and great rock climbing sites.  Travel a little farther on NV 157 and visit Mt. Charleston/Spring Mountains National Recreation Area. It will take you about 45 minutes (35 miles) to get to a place where the temperatures average 20-30 degrees cooler than Las Vegas.  Great way to get out of the heat and hike some beautiful trails.
