Birds and Insects

Two days ago it was in the 70’s here for the first time all summer!  I went to Barr Lake and saw lots of great birds.  The big problem was that the lake is so low, and the birds so far away on the shore that it was hard to get good photos, even with a 400mm lens.  Yesterday was another insect day.  I was excited by two things.  First, when I opened the back door to let the dogs out, there was a Praying Mantis on the wall to greet me.  Then, when I was watering the plants in the back yard, I saw three Monarch Butterfly Caterpillars on my milkweed plant.  It hadn’t bloomed (this was its first year), and I thought there would be no activity.  I was so excited!
